On Monday, March 21st, our good friend and Kauai athlete Daniel suffered a serious spinal cord injury in a paragliding accident on Maui. Daniel came to Kauai as a teenager from Columbia. His gentle spirit and easy smile made him many friends overnight. When I saw him riding his mountain bike I knew he was something special. I, chugging in granny up a steep single track slope, here comes Daniel flying by me ...doing a wheelie to the top! Daniel has competed and finished at the top in nearly every race in the state. Jamba Juice, Tri Kauai, Hanalei fun run, Powerline, open ocean swims- everything. He is a great waterman, athlete, friend and to me, he is Primo. He needs his friends!
